  • Theories were used
  • Showed both of the argument very well
  • No repetition
  • Clear terminologies

2) Read the Examiners' Report for this exam as outlined above and write three bullet points that summarise the key comments that apply to your essay.

  • Focus on the question more
  • Use more media theories and terminologies
  • Using case study
  • No repetition

3) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential)

Occasionally focused on the question but you are far too quick to wander off point! You repeat same point too much and don't support your ideas with clear terminology and media theory. Your English expression lets you down - some of your sentences don't make sense.

WWW - When you focus on questions, you have given range of examples to back up viewpoint.

LR - Look at other side of argument. Use more detailed, concrete egs.

Developments in new/digital media mean that audiences can now have access to a greater variety of views and values. To what extent are audiences empowered by these developments?

Developments in new/digital media allows the consumers to essentially be influenced into being pro-sumers. A pro-sumer is when a consumer becomes the producer. A wide access to trending and successful social media platforms allows them to be influenced and inspired. YouTube is one of the biggest social media platforms which is owned by Google. Every 3 out of 5 people use YouTube for entertainment purposes and also educational. YouTube is one huge social media platforms that consists of many users worldwide. The users are preferred as "YouTubers" where on the social media platform, it allows the users to produce their own content and share it to the world. There are many famous YouTubers now that influence many consumers into producing their own content. Essentially, the audiences are empowered by these developments because they can become the producers as well and it isn't limited in the sense that they can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't break the policy of YouTube. It is free and the audiences are able to use the social media platform to create their own content for free so that the world could see it. If they achieve high amount of views and subscribers, they are also bound to be paid a high amount too. But however, there are also drawbacks for audiences using YouTube. Since the fact that the consumers can become pro-sumers, they are able to post innapropriate content which could influence the consumers negatively. A video of Isis was published on the platform and it helped radicalise many consumers which is a evidence of how this platform can have a negative impact on the audiences.
